Connie ("Doc") began his extensive medical career as a Captain in the US Army Medical Corp during the Korean War. He continued his career as a medical doctor in private practice, progressing on to become Medical Director at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex. In 1973, he was appointed City of Milwaukee Health Commissioner, a post he held for 15 years. During this time, he developed numerous innovative health programs, designed and implemented community public health plans, and worked with public health agencies throughout the state. In 1988, Connie turned toward health care consulting and simultaneously served as head of the Student Health Center at UW-Milwaukee. Throughout his career he served as president of the Wisconsin Public Health Association, was a member of the American Public Health Association, served on the board of directors of the US Conference of Local Health Officers and was involved with many other community and public health organizations.
Visitation at the Funeral Home, Thursday, September 11, 4:00-8:00 PM. Trisagion 7:00 PM. Visitation also at ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 9400 West Congress Street, Friday, 11:00-11:30 AM. Funeral Service 11:30 AM, the Rev. Father Leo Gavrilos officiating. Burial Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Froedtert Foundation or to the Children's Hospital Foundation.
