Age 84, of West Allis, WI, peacefully entered eternal life at home on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Born September 24, 1930 in Milotopos, Greece, son of Savas and Fotini. He is preceded in death by his older brother Socrates and younger twin sisters Despina (Theofilos) Alvanos and Magdalini Kostandinides. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anastasia Lazarides. Loving father of Dr. Toula (Dean Schiller), Kostas (Diane Kukowski) and Katina Lazarides. Devoted grandfather of Kamilla Jean and Alexander Lee Schiller, Nicholas Alexander and Kyle Vincent Lazarides, and Calvin Alexander Lazarides. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
Alex married his bride Anastasia (Ann) on December 3, 1955. Encouraged by his great uncle and aunt to come to America, Alex and Ann embarked on a journey to America on May 29, 1956 via Ellis Island, to pursue a better life and future. He was able to find employment as a welder and worked for the Allis Chalmers Corporation for 31 years before retiring. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His retirement allowed him many happy years to pursue his passion for gardening and beekeeping. He also helped local farmers and was a regular at the West Allis Farmer's Market helping his friends sell their produce. Every summer during the Wisconsin State Fair, he worked at Apollo's Gyros as their cook. Alex was well known for his great sense of humor and practical jokes. He was very social and developed many friendships throughout his life. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, Greek heritage and American citizenship.
The family wishes to thank the Aurora At Home staff for the compassionate in-home hospice care they provided. They would also like to thank Dr. Pincus, Dr. Jella and the devoted staff at the Oncology Department at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center.
