Clara Mae Walker was born on July 29, 1938 to Pinkie Mae Carter Walker, in the city of Carthage, Mississippi. When she was 7 years old, her mother thought she could do "everything". This would indeed be the start of a life of service that would be a blessing to many. She attended the Carthage public school system and later a private Catholic school. She furthered her education at Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Clara accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She first united with Christian Union Baptist Church in Carthage, Mississippi and upon relocating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, united with Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church on May 21, 1980. She served in many positions during those years. She was a singer in the Choir for 20+ yrs., Banquet committee-15 yrs., Picnic committee, Missionary Society from 1985 until present, kitchen committee, Sunday school worker and any other area she was asked to work with. She dearly loved her church family.
Clara united in holy matrimony with Jimmie L. McAdory on November 4, 1952, in Leake County, Mississippi. Their union was blessed with two children: Rosemary, who was born on her birthday in 1953 and Jeanette, born in 1956, one year after her husband's military discharge and moving to Milwaukee in 1955. They bought several homes and were blessed to enjoy all that life had to offer.
Clara was a very detailed and analytical person and those abilities led her from being employed at "Ma Baensch's " fish company of Milwaukee, for 6 yrs. to a position as a quality control battery tester at Globe Union, which later merged with the Johnson Controls company. She worked with electrical components and circuits. On many occasions, even some supervisors would have difficulty problem solving and ask for her expertise to complete a job. She worked at Johnson Controls for 29 ½ dedicated years before retiring in 1995.
Clara had many hobbies and interests. She loved reading, real estate, traveling, working cross-word puzzles, "collecting" and wearing hats, vegetable and flower gardening, selling Avon for 20 yrs., becoming a President's Club member, family reunions, and caring for her 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, often lovingly spoiling them!
Clara was a strong Christian person and would often counsel an individual on "What Would Jesus Do" whenever that person faced a dilemma. She "mothered" many and was forever a peacemaker.
Clara was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2006 and was given only 3-4 yrs. to live by the medical doctors; but God had more purpose for her and gave her strength to go a distance of 9yrs. On Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Columbia St. Mary's Medical Center of Milwaukee, God said "Well Done Faithful Servant" and sent his angels to guide her home to take her rest.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, mother, several brothers and sisters, and other relatives. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Rosemary (James) Noble and Jeanette Nash, sisters: Mattie Goynes of Jefferson, Texas, Ruth Luckett of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Dorothy Hughes of Carthage, Mississippi, and one brother Howard Walker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, all her "grandchildren", two special nieces: Clara Hughes of Carthage, Mississippi and Rose McMillian-Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, one special nephew: Robert Goynes of Green Bay, Wisconsin, family friend: Wayne Hibbler, and a great host of other relatives, friends, former co-workers , her church family and loved ones.
