Joseph Emil of Pewaukee, Wisconsin and Boynton Beach, Florida, and his beloved wife of 64 years, Anita (nee Sell) died as a result of a car accident near their home at Quail Ridge Country Club in Florida. Joseph passed away on Friday, March 11, and Anita on March 24. Both were 86 years old. They are survived by their children Debra Kain, Michael (Julie), David (Laura), Donald (Debbie) and Jodi (Peter) Ells. Also survived by cherished grandchildren Devin, Nicole, Jordan, Josh, Teagan, Daniel, Joe, Ryan, Chase, Christopher, Kelly and Jack, as well as their nephews and nieces. Both Joe and Anita graduated from Luxemburg/Casco High School in Wisconsin. Joe then went on to Marquette University where he quarterbacked the football team and received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1951. Anita and Joe married in December of that year, beginning a lifetime partnership built around family and friends. Joe and James Ring established Ring & DuChateau LLP (R&D) in 1961, a Milwaukee-based consulting engineering firm. Joe's love of the company and "his people" transcended the business and profession, creating a culture that encouraged people to recognize the company as a family. An avid life-long golfer, Joe was a member of North Hills Country Club and then Blue Mound Country Club where he was the club champion in 1992. Anita's love, patience and support made her the center around which the DuChateau family revolved. She loved music, shopping with her daughters, following her sons' and grandchildren's sporting achievements, and entertaining family and friends, especially at the holidays. After Joe retired in 1994, the couple made Boynton Beach their home, returning to Pewaukee to spend summers and holidays. In retirement, Joe continued to enjoy golf, especially with his grandsons. Together, they enjoyed many memorable vacations throughout their lifetime, including trips to Singapore, Germany, Monaco, Wyoming, and along the Danube. Most of all, they loved time spent with family. Their presence will be greatly missed by their children and cherished grandchildren, who will continue to honor their values of love, generosity and integrity.
