Want to Help Those Who Grieve? Join Us for This Event

In a world that sometimes seems more divided than united, it’s important to remember those things we have in common. As humans, there are many things that make us unique. But there are almost just as many things that we share – experiences, knowledge, interests, and traits that can bring us together. As sad as it might be, one of the experiences we can all relate to is the loss of a loved one. Whether it’s a friend, parent, spouse, or even a child, at some point in all of our lives, we will have to say goodbye to someone we have cared about.

Grief after a loss is incredibly painful. The caring team at Krause Funeral Home walks alongside hurting Milwaukee families every day, and many of us have lost loved ones ourselves. We know firsthand how difficult it is. This is why we make a number of resources available to all the families we serve – long after the service is over.

Event for Those Who Help the Grieving...www.krausefuneralhome.comWhile the grieving process looks different for every person, there are certain things you can expect to help you when you’re trying to heal after a loss. One thing we have heard can be incredibly beneficial is the act of reaching out to help others, even in the midst of your own grief. For some people, this might be volunteer work, connecting with civic activities, or becoming a part of a church family. We have met many people in our work here at Krause Funeral Home who have used this incredibly challenging human experience to help others who are going through the same pain. While you should make sure you’re far enough along your own path towards healing before reaching out to others, getting involved in a program that reaches out to the bereaved can be incredibly helpful and rewarding.

That’s why Krause Funeral Home is proud to support an event happening in our community in the month of March. Two Saturdays this month, on the 18th and the 25th, those who are currently acting as a companion to the bereaved are invited to a condensed, intensive, basic training program on the topic. Whether you work one-on-one with people in your circle of friends, or you are a facilitator of a grief support group, this training program will help you hone your skills.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Presentation and Processing Activities
  • Silent Reflection and Journaling
  • Small and Large Group Interaction
  • Times for Personal Integration
  • Opportunities to Practice Skills
  • Meditation and Ritual

We hope you’ll mark your calendar for this event – there are more details below or on our event page. If you’re not quite ready to begin helping others, but need to connect with grief resources yourself, contact us – or visit the aftercare section of our online home. This blog is also intended to be a source of comfort and help to you, bringing you information on how to handle grief during the holidays, knowing if you’re ready to move on, and more.
