Found peace after a long battle with Mitochondrial Disease on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the age of 27.
Morgan was born on February 27, 1994, to her parents Troy and Colleen Jakubowski (nee McNally).
Morgan attended New Berlin West High School and Alverno College where she pursued a degree in Accounting for three years. In 2015, she was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease (Mito) after several years of unexplained health issues. Shortly after learning of her diagnosis, she had a lengthy hospital stay that resulted in a brain injury which changed her life forever. Although she was presented with a life-altering, progressive disease, Morgan NEVER let that slow her down. She diligently continued her therapy at the Princeton Club with the help of several special caregivers (Jessica, De, Sue, Melanie, Sadie, and Carley). Morgan’s love of movies led to her working at the Marcus Ridge Cinema as a ticket attendant. Morgan also became active in the Mito Community where she made lifelong friendships and spread awareness with interviews about the disease. Morgan was a DIEHARD Brewers fan who supported her team whether they won or lost.
Morgan was a genuine spirit made up of a perfect mixture of sweetness and sass. She had an excellent sense of humor and could light up a room with her beautiful smile that never faded. Though quiet and shy, she loved her family and friends fiercely and would spread love and support unconditionally.
She leaves behind her parents, brother Cameron (girlfriend Miranda Kobs), grandpa Paul McNally and bonus grandparents Don and Maureen “MoMo” Somogyi. Special niece of Ryan McNally (Melinda Somogyi), Mike Jakubowski (Sandy Patyk), and DeAnna (John) O’Grady. Very special cousin of Vincenza and Etta O’Grady. Beloved “Niece” to her “Aunts” Jessica, Amy, Mary, Ann and Deana and to her “Uncle” Chad. Guardian Angel to her best little buddy Myles. Deeply missed by “the ladies” Gretchen Wieners and Sally Manders. Further survived by other friends and extended family too numerous to count.
Preceded in death by grandparents Joyce and Tom Jakubowski and Judy McNally.
Thank you to all of the staff at Froedtert Hospital and Zilber Family Hospice for their support and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages everyone to keep Morgan’s legacy alive by donating to Morgan’s Mito March Team of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation’s Energy for Life Walkathon.
