He was our brother, our son, our cousin, our uncle, our friend. An athlete and competitor, a wit and a rock, a source of joy and a depth of sincerity. Alex Lester Tessmer was born on March 8th, 1984 and died on April 3rd, 2019 — and that wasn’t nearly enough time for those who lived alongside him.
A graduate of Nathan Hale High School, Alex attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and enjoyed a diverse career in public service (firefighting), sales, and property management. He lived in Milwaukee, West Allis, Whitewater, Madison, Indiana, and North Dakota – but was never far from the heart of his family. A five-tool athlete (he would have insisted we said that) Alex enjoyed great success in baseball, basketball, and football. A triple threat onstage (again, his words), Alex made memories, moments, and friendships in numerous theatrical productions. As much a fan of Wisconsin sports teams as any you can find (Go! Pack! Go!), Alex was always ready with a random fact, a perfect quip, or a wide shoulder to lean on. We learned with him, grew with him, and loved with him.
Son of Susan (née Hennen) and Martin King, and the late Jerome Lester Tessmer; brother to Chad (Sarah), Rory, Jonathan (Amy), and Hannah; uncle to Bennett, Oscar, William, Judah, and Lilah; cousin to innumerable; and friend to countless. Alex will be constantly missed, deeply remembered, and leaves a memory surely to be a blessing.
Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin, on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM. Funeral Service at 4:00 PM.
