Being the last of three children, Andrae (Squirrel) Demetrius Vivians was born on January 24, 1974, to Peggy L. Collins and Accie L. Vivians at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Andrae received his formal education at North Division High School and later furthered his education at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
At an early age, Andrae accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Growing up, Andrae was afforded the opportunity to live in Iowa and Indiana before the family decided to make Milwaukee, WI, home. Soon after graduating high school, Andrae became the proud father of Shabria Vivians on July 16, 1992, and then welcomed Andreiana Vivians on March 9, 1995. On March 12, 2021 Andrae was united in holy matrimony with Amber C. Hopkins in Milwaukee, WI, and this union was expanded, blessed, and blended.
In April of 2002, Andrae joined the Sam’s Club family, working various positions and served as an asset for 19 years. He adopted the name “Big Daddy” because he was a leader like qualities and offering guidance to all. In his leisure time, Andrae loved listening to music, ensuring that everyone that was his partner on the Spades table was a winner, and was a fantastic cook, especially that signature banana pudding. Mostly, Andrae enjoyed every moment of being a father and grandfather.
Andrae was known best for his award-winning smile and signature laugh. Andrae was a man that said what he meant and meant what he said. Andrae was a fighter and did not believe in giving up. However, Andrae accepted that he was writing the last pages of his journal. Soon, no one could add or take pages away but flip through and seek the jewels he left behind.
Early on March 22, 2021, at Season’s Hospice Center in Wauwatosa, WI, God whispered to Andrae and said, “it is time, son, to come home.” Andrae is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Collins, his Grandmothers, Betty Dolton and Lena Vivians, and Grandfather York Vivians.
Andrae leaves to cherish his legacy: wife, Amber C. Hopkins; daughters, Shabria Vivians, Andreiana Vivians, Akeira Hopkins, and Christalin Hopkins; sons, Elijah Hopkins, and Emmanuel Hopkins; sister, Leslie A. (Darryl) Tarbor all of Milwaukee, WI; brother, Accie D. (Sonja) Vivians of Norfolk, VA; three amazing grandchildren; Aubree Allen, Isa Williams, and Kingston Allen all of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
