I just came across the news of Dr. Garg's passing. Needless to say I am shocked to hear this. I am one of his students from late 80s and early 90s. We worked on the energy management EADC project and I took a number of classes with him during my graduate school years. His authority in his subject area needs no further endorsement. He is known the world over for his scholarship. I am proud to say I was one of his many students. I will miss him as will the scientific research community where he contributed so immensely. Thank you Dr. Garg for all your help and may your family find peace in coping with this loss.

I knew Arun Garg as as a colleague working in the same area as me. He demonstrated quiet confidence in all his communications. I had the pleasure of attending many of the same conferences and sharing same platforms. His friendly demeaner authority of scientific information was striking. He was a distinguished scientist. It is significant loss to the field. I pray for him to Rest In Peace and provide strength to his family to bear this loss. I know his colleagues around the world are just as shocked as I am. We have lost a friend, a scientist and a distinguished scholar. We his colleagues feel the loss collectively.

It is a very sad time for those that knew Arun. He was one of the very best persons I have had the honor of knowing over the years. As a PhD student and before that, as her worked on his Professional Engineering Degree at UM, he was indeed a brilliant and dedicated researcher. His early modeling of human energy expenditure rates when working formed the basis for the many work-rest schemes used in various companies, and in the NIOSH manual lifting guideline. I will miss his quiet but determined voice on behalf of those that struggle daily from work related over-exertion injuries. Rest in peace old friend, knowing that you have made the world a better place for so many people.

I was very saddened to hear of Arun's passing. He was a scholar and a gentleman. He will be missed by his colleagues and by our research discipline and profession. An inspiration has passed from our understanding.

I'm probably one of the oldest student of Professor Garg. I worked with Dr. Garg during my doctoral program at UWM in the 80s. Professor Garg had a command in his field of expertise which is evident from numerous awards & recognition that he received throughout his professional career. I have many fond memories of working on a number of projects with Prof. Garg's during those three years. Since then I continued seeking his input on various occasions right up to last year around this time when he mentioned about his health. He was passionate about research and the groundbreaking work in the field of Ergonomics he accomplished. Throughout he supported numerous undergraduate/graduate students from the grants he got inundated with, specially over the last thirty years. To my understanding the only time he took a break from his work was last year. The only other thing he loved was his family and every member in the family is dearly missing Arun. There are very many friends to Garg Family each of these was /is more like family member to him. There is lot more with me about my dear Professor Garg whom I have already started missing ('caus I know now I cannot talk to him, or send/receive text messages to/from him). May God give place within Him for the departed Soul to rest in peace and strength to the family left behind.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

There is a line from a poem that states "The true measure of a man is the legacy he leaves." Dr. Garg's legacy is immeasurable. His research in ergonomics has made a positive impact in the lives of past, present and future generations of workers. I was fortunate to have Arun as my adviser, professor and mentor during my graduate studies. But more importantly, I was blessed to have him as a friend.

Dr. Garg was a giant in the field of ergonomics. It is impossible to practice in the field of ergonomics and not be the beneficiary of Dr. Garg's voluminous work. Our condolences go out to his family, his many colleagues and all those who will cherish his memory and legacy.
