Barbara Catherine Mitcheson was born into Eternal Life in the early morning hours of Monday, September 2, 2019, with her adoring son Doug by her side. Barbara Berge was born on earth on September 21, 1932, to Eivind and Adelaide (Burke) Berge in McIntosh, Minnesota where she and her two sisters Sonya and Nancy, and their mother and grandma Addie lived. In 1944 the family moved to Erskine, Minnesota and in 1946 on to Centralia, Washington. Barbara graduated from Centralia High School in 1950 then attended Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks, North Dakota for two years. Barbara worked for six years at the North Dakota Mill and Elevator Company. In 1957, Barbara moved to Seattle, Washington where she worked as a Corporate and Legal Secretary for about 20 years.
Barbara met and married the love of her life, Gary Mitcheson. They adored each other. Gary and Barbara had one son, Doug. Two parents could never love a child and, eventually, a man, more than Barbara and Gary loved Doug. Doug was so very proud and blessed to have both of them as parents by his side. Gary sadly passed away in August 2010. Barbara and Doug found strength in each other for the next nine years. In addition to Minnesota and the Seattle area, Barbara and Gary also lived in Indianapolis, Indiana and Anaheim, California. They retired to Bigfork, Montana and Desert Hot Springs, California before eventually settling in Hartland, WI to be close to Doug. Doug will hold his beloved and adored mom and dad in his heart and soul forever.
Barbara was preceded by her parents, Eivind and Adelaide, her step-father, John Usbeck, her sister, Sonya Oberle, brother-in-law, Ronald “Mick” Oberle, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tillie and Bill Mitcheson, Gary’s aunt and uncle Brownie and Melba; and, never to be forgotten, our wonderful dogs that we enjoyed and loved as a family, Brandy, Mandy, Sidney and Meadow.
Barbara is survived and dearly missed by her only child, son Doug, her sister Nancy (Jim) Benson, and five nieces and nephews. Barbara’s current two dogs are named Paddy and Ginger. They miss her tremendously. Barbara was a very beautiful, kind, humble, intelligent, and sweet lady. She was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and friend. I’m looking forward to our joyful reunion in heaven. Rest in peace, my dear mama.
