Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on September 26, 1930 to Walter and Margaret Farrell, Betty was a graduate of the class of 1948 of South Division HS in Milwaukee. She married Al on June 3, 1950 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, and raised their family on the northwest side of Milwaukee. Whether personally or professionally, Betty valued treating others with care and dignity, and always challenged herself to learn and grow. During her career in medical administration, her attention to detail contributed to the growth of the practices of the late Drs. William Baker of Milwaukee and Erwin J. Jelenchick of Wauwatosa, and Drs. William R. Deshur and Dean E. Klinger of Milwaukee.
Her skills in making bread pudding, strawberry shortcake, and German potato salad were without peer, and she never met a carbohydrate she didn’t like. Her melodious singing voice bolstered the alto section of the church choirs of Covenant Lutheran Church of Milwaukee and First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa. She was also a proud member of “The Betty Club” at First Congregational Church, and “The Biddy Club” of friends and peers of the Walther League from her youth.
Her kindness, charm, grace, quick Irish wit, and skills as a raconteur made her the life of the party — she was loved by all who were privileged to know her.
“Life is short. Eat dessert first!”
