Billy “Nick” W. Bowen was born on November 3, 1936, to the union of George Bowen Sr. and Lucy Mae Jones in Holly Springs, Mississippi.
Billy received his education in the Milwaukee Public School system. He was united in holy matrimony to Willie Belle Bowen on August 8, 1959. Their union was blessed with three children Dorla (Dottie), Billy D. and Kevin.
Billy accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was a faithful member of Emmaus Lutheran/Hope Lutheran Church for many years.
In his early years Billy competed in the Wisconsin Golden Gloves as a welterweight boxer. He had the pleasure of meeting Ernie Terrell, Cassius Clay and Joe Louis.
Billy was employed by Briggs & Stratton for thirty-five years where he retired.
In his leisure, Billy enjoyed bowling, Brewer games, trips to Potawatomi with friends, going on cruises with the Carrolls and caring for his lawn and garden. He was a big fan of gospel music and was knowns for walking around the house signing his favorite gospel songs. He later joined his friends, the Millers, singing in a group called The Clifftones.
Billy silently fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 28, 2023. He is preceded in death by his mother Lucy Mae Bowen, his father George Bowen Sr., his brother George Bowen Jr. and his son, Billy D. Bowen.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his loving wife, Willie Bowen (nee Mitchell). Cherished father of Dorla (Calvin Sr.) Caldwell and Kevin Bowen. Beloved Granddaddy of Kendra (Bob) Lepak, Desmond (Colleen) Lovelace and Calving “Coolidge” Caldwell Jr. (fiancé Theresa Chada Hadnot). Proud GG Daddy of Isabella, Marisa, Alaina, Jarod, Gabe and Logan. Sister-in-law, Dorothy Bowen, nephews Keith and Darryl and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53222, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, 10AM-11:45AM. Funeral Service at 12PM. Burial will be held privately.
