Bruce was born on June 4, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jeanne and the late Robert Gipp. He was the oldest of eight.
Bruce was by trade a master mechanic/automotive technician. He started out his career at Nelson Brothers, which turned into Fred Jones Pontiac of Brookfield, WI, where he worked for 20+ years. He eventually left and spent his last year working at CU Fleet in West Allis, WI. Bruce not only worked his full-time job, but also did many side jobs out of his garage, we nicknamed “Gipp’s Garage.” He was what one would call a “workaholic.” However, Bruce always was available for his family. His family came first. He was a loving husband of 46 years to his wife, Yvonne Gipp (Oestreich). He was a great father to his three children, Kristina, Jennifer, and Andrea.
Bruce was always a “happy go lucky” kind of guy. He worked hard and played hard. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, he was out enjoying a game or two of golf or bowling.
At the age of 49, Bruce endured a brain injury, that would force him into retirement. He would be wheelchair bound and unable to care for himself, but even then, he was happy and loving life. We were very lucky to have him around for a “bonus” 20 years. He was loved by all the staff at his day programs, as well as the staff in his group homes. He really enjoyed his weekly games of sheepshead with his brothers and best friends, Jim, and Charlene Malson. He looked forward to Sundays, when his wife and children would pick him up for Sunday dinners.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Yvonne, his three children, Kristina (Tim) Winters, Jennifer (Brad) Tetzlaff, and Andrea (Mike) Edwards and his six grandchildren, Mason, Zachary, Kayle, Jake, Ella, and Matthew. He is further survived by his mother, Jeanne Gipp, his brothers, David, Roger, Ken, and Karl, his sisters, Mary, Nancy, and Betty. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Gipp, and his nephew, Robert E. Gipp.
A memorial visitation will take place at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 6:45 PM. Memorial service at 7:00 PM.
