Charlie was such a joy to have come to First Lutheran to deliver bread and treats. I could hear his polka music coming down the alley. His dedication and kindness toward others will always be remembered. My sympathy to all of his family for your loss. I know heaven is a peppier place right now. God bless you, Charlie.

My kids always enjoyed seeing "the man in the red coat" (Charlie) on Sundays at St. Matthias. He would always greet them with "Here come Charlie's Angels!" as he pulled a couple packages of Smarties candy from his coat pocket, or at Christmas it was always a candy cane.... :) Reading his obituary and hearing about all the wonderful things he has done showed me that HE was the true Angel, as his kindness and warm demeanor extended far past the walls of St. Matthias. He will be sincerely missed by every life he has touched, and his family has my deepest sympathy.
Pastor Josh Graber left a message on March 31, 2021:
I did not know Charlie, personally, but I know what a difference he made in the lives of this community and how his visits and deliveries to First Lutheran's Food Pantry brought joy and nourishment to those we serve and those serving. He is an inspiration to others in the community to share their gifts and serve others. His family is in our prayers and his memory will cheer us on in our service.

To all the family and friends of "Charlie The Angel" Charlie always said a friend in need is a friend in deed. He had a heart of gold! He will truly be missed. He also said he wanted to live life to the fullest and he said someday he would fly united. He did! Love Ya Charlie!!!

I am so sad to hear of Charlie’s passing. He was my unofficial wedding planner 30 years ago when my husband and I got married at St. Matthias. His friendliness and generosity of spirit will be forever missed. God has a new Angel now.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I had the pleasure of talking with him on his many weekly stops at Pepperidge Farm, pick up bread for different charities. He was always very pleasant and willing to help out, just to make a persons day go a little easier. I will miss him. We will miss him.
