Cheryl was in that honored group of the "Big Cousins" -the first born. Even at a Pre-K age, Cheryl closely watched and listened to all that happened around her. She was my big sister. She had strength personified and faith unmatched. She also had a sharp memory and wit that belonged on a stage or in a book. She is loved.
Dr.Janie Hatton left a message on March 6, 2023:
Cheryl was my former student who embraced life enthusiastically. Her acumen with language underscored with humor always left a cerebral impact. As life would have it, I was blessed to serve as her daughter, Shelley's high school.principal. My world was elevated when Cheryl's voice was on Shelley's phone and she famously lit us up with funny quips. Cheryl gifted the world as a brilliant thinker, humorist and loving parent. She will be missed, yet when you hear your favorite comic, just think how Cheryl could top them. Her legacy was to love her children unconditionally.

I never got the chance to actually meet her, but I was able to taste her food and it was great. I’ll continue to pray for her children especially my friend Shelley. She will be greatly missed.
