David R. Meicher

David R. Meicher, 63, died unexpectedly at his apartment in Milwaukee on September 27, 2018. David was raised by his foster parents, Oscar and Helen Evenson and his foster sister, Patrecia Evenson. He attended school at The Ranch in Menomonee Falls. He worked at the VA Hospital and then for more than 20 years at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Oscar, Helen, Patrecia Evenson and his birth father, Tony Meicher preceded him in death. He is survived by his foster family Linda Evenson Reed and Dr. Donald Reed of New Berlin; Ruth Johnson, Ted, Allene, Teddy and Derek Evenson of Sparta, and Harriet Knudson of Milwaukee. He is further survived by his birth mother, Roberta Schumacher of Milwaukee and birth siblings Janice, Teresa, Melodie and Clifford, as well as his former roommate and best friend, Michael Mikkelson and many other friends.

David had been a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for a number of years and enjoyed participating in the Jesus Cares Program. He also enjoyed daily activities at the Milwaukee Center for Independence.

Visitation will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 2028 North 60^th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM and a light lunch in the church basement.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sparta, Wisconsin on Friday, October 12, 2018.

Memorials may be given to the Jesus Cares Program, Camp Phillip, St. James Lutheran Church or the Milwaukee Center for Independence.
