Deborah Joan Jasso (nee Heyne)
Born into Eternal Life on July 25, 2022 at age 69.
Loving wife of David Jasso for 48 years. Beloved sister of Timothy (Kathleen) Heyne, Christine (David) Ploof, Nora (Brad) Hayes. She was also loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
After her marriage to David in 1974, Debbie worked as a phlebotomist and a medical assistant. In 1987, she opened a state-licensed day care in her home, where for 8 years she shared her love and God’s love with dozens of children and their families. She then went on to become a paraprofessional in the Milwaukee Public Schools, working in 4K Special Needs, 1st grade, and as a librarian. When a teacher was asked to write a letter of recommendation for Debbie, this was part of what she said: “Paraprofessionals as generous and dedicated as Mrs. Jasso may only come once in a lifetime.” Generous and dedicated is what Debbie brought to every area of her life. She taught Sunday School and used her beautiful soprano voice to praise God in church choirs for most of her adult life.
In her family, Debbie was everyone’s favorite aunt, and throughout their married life, she and David opened up their home to welcome family members with love and always with humor. Debbie had the gift of home decorating and had a flair for fashion, especially hats!
She retired from MPS in 2011 and spent the next few years caring for her aging parents and also helping to babysit her great nephews, even after her health began to decline. Debbie suffered from a rare illness, corticobasal degeneration, since 2017. Over the years as this disease progressed, she weakened physically, but her mind remained clear and her memory sharp.
The first thing everyone who knew Debbie will think of is her beautiful infectious smile, which lit up every room she entered. Debbie will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her, but we are so thankful that she is now healthy and strong in the arms of Jesus.
