Dominick James Calabresa

Entered into Eternal Life and was reunited with his beloved wife and best friend, MaryAnn (nee Tackowiak) on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at age 99.  Loving and cherished father of Laureen (Paul) Sanders, Allan (Kathi) Calabresa, and Maria (Paul) Echelard.  Special grandpa of Christopher (Jennifer), Elizabeth (Michael), Katie (Morgan), Kari (Jeff), and Katie (Paul).  Adored great-grandpa of Dominick, Keegan, Norah, Leo, Kassidy, Calvin, Luella, and Ava.  Dear brother of James (Nancy) Calabresa. Further survived by other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Thomas; brothers, Frank (the late Ann), Anthony (the late Helen), Nicholas (the late Avis), Thomas (the late Flora), Ernest (Phyllis).  Dominick will be missed by many relatives and friends.

Visitation at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 West Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners, Wisconsin, 53130 on Tuesday, January 14 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM.  Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.  Procession to St. Adalbert Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used for Dominick’s favorite charities.

Dominick was a proud Marine Corps Veteran (Retired Second Lieutenant-World War II). He lived his life with Honor-which is the bedrock of the Marine character and the quality that empowers Marines to exemplify the ultimate in ethical and moral behavior. Dominick was a passionate educator.  He was proud to have spent his entire career at Pulaski High School.  From classroom teacher, coach, counselor, to school administrator; the favorite parts of his tenure were the students he mentored and the fellow teachers he worked with.  Dominick believed that education was the key to opportunity.  He encouraged life long learning to enrich an individual’s life. He had an enormous capacity to love. He had the ability to, in the moment, make you feel like you were the most special being in his life.  He celebrated people’s joys and pains with compassion and honesty.  Dominick was interesting and interested – an active listener.  He was always more interested hearing about your life than sharing about his.  He wanted to support you and your endeavors with his whole heart and soul.  He continued to make genuine connections and friendships until the day he passed.  He was always genuinely ready to lend a helping hand; gracious enough to help even strangers. He lived his faith every day by helping his fellow man and supporting many charitable organizations that supported the betterment of human lives.  Dominick will be admired for approaching others with genuineness, kindness, youthfulness, joyfulness, and love, always abundant love. He will be most remembered for being Maryann’s one true love, Prince Charming, champion, Guardian Angel and best friend.
