Donald “Don” Charles Miller passed peacefully into his eternal home with his Lord, Jesus, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the age of 79. Loving husband of Lynne (nee Dudek) for almost 53 years. Devoted father of five daughters: Jennifer (John) Uribe, Amy Joy (Andrew Freiburghaus) Miller, Rebecca (Michael) Ribar, Lisa Hennessey, and Emily Miller. Adoring Grandpa Don of Hannah (Jason) Wulff-Woesten, Daniel (Elise) Niess-Uribe, and Alex Uribe; Gabriella & Madeline Klos, and Sophie Kabb; Brady, Austin & Reece Ribar; Monona & Abigail Hennessey, and Daniel & Ciara Brown. And… great-grandpa of Titus, Evan, & Eliza Wulff-Woesten. Don is also survived by his younger sister, Ellen (Dennis) Johnson and brother, Kenneth “Mike” (Margie Blodgett) Miller. He will also be deeply missed by many other family and friends.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Don was enthusiastic about anything mechanical, and always enjoyed music. He played piano and trombone, and Don had a beautiful baritone voice. He served in the U.S. Army (1960-66), and returned to a long, successful career as a service director at various automotive dealerships.
Don loved his Lord Jesus, his wife Lynne, his girls and their families. He was selfless, generous and tender-hearted, treating everyone he met with kindness and warmth. Don & Lynne opened their home to 80+ foster babies/children over 24 years. He liked naps in the recliner almost as much as the babies he rocked! Don treasured Christian fellowship in the church families he was a part of throughout his life. Later in life, Don fulfilled his life-long dream of owning a Harley-Davidson, eventually winning Lynne over as they enjoyed many years of riding together.
Don suffered with a form of dementia for several years. The family is very thankful for the care he received the past two months as his condition unexpectedly worsened.
In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated in Don’s memory to Compassion International or World Vision, global organizations that provide for children.
