“Don” “Pizza Man” passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2018, at the age of 73. Don is survived by his loving family, including his wife Kathleen (nee Karr), son Jim (Kaili Richey), daughter Laura (Mark) Webster, son Donald Jr (Amanda), and daughter Ashley (Ted Horstick). My thoughts and prayers to the Pichotta Family. I was a 1959 graduate of Catholic Memorial HS and a friend of John. As a student at the U of Wisconsin- La Crosse, I got to know Don and we shared many common Waukesha times.
How lucky are the many students who had Don as a teacher. As the Picchotta Family goes forward draw from his legacy.

Don was a sweet, shy, humble guy. He earned a spot in my heart in our freshman homeroom class, and that spot endured ever since. His passing left a hole in my heart that cannot be repaired. He owns the spot, and I will forever cherish our interactions during our high school years, and the few interactions we experienced after. I will miss you "Pizza", and I hope you will come to visit me in my dreams, so we can chat about the Blackshirts and the separate paths our lives took after our amazing high school experience.

I had the honor and privilege of meeting Don with Ashley. He was a wonderful man with an incredible heart, and it was clear how very much that he loves his family and how protective he was of them all. I have enjoyed hearing about all of the incredible things he has done with his life. May the family know how loved they were by him. May God bring you all comfort in this difficult time.

i have a great feeling for this man . he was a mentor to me as an athelete a waukesha , his father and donny are the salt of the earth , we would talk on a timely bases when i was a child and young adult he was very close to my brother don anders but he had an eye toward me and taught me a great talent about being #1 your family and you are in the history books and you have a special place with god love robby anders

We live across the street on Wisconsin Ave. It has been such a pleasure watching Don put up all the seasonal decorations every year (25) He was so friendly always stopping to chat. My son (Michael) also had him for a coach at a basketball camp he went to. You would see the family out in the yard playing with the grand kids. He was always there. We are so sorry for your loss. May you find strength in the love he surrounded you with.

I grew up knowing Don as a child and went all though school with him. I think my father, Dr. John Promer, was their family doctor. I was so sad to hear of his death and send my condolences to his wife, children, grandchildren and good friends of Don's.

To the Wonderful Pichotta Family: Our Prayers are with you all. Pizza was my classmate at WHS and my roommate at UW-La Crosse. What a great friend I had in this gentle giant. He helped me so much getting through college. We both had some wonderful and fun days for many years. Pizza was an All-State athlete who never bragged about his success, but rather helped everyone become a better person. I was so blessed with his friendship.
