Dorothy F. Braswell (nee Hennings) passed away peacefully and joined her husband Virgil on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born on January 28, 1938 in Keeling, TN to Edward Hennings, Sr. and Dorcas Hennings-Taylor.
Dorothy was an avid and active member and usher at St. Mark AME Church for over 40 years. She and her husband Virgil were devoted foster parents for over 20 years. Dorothy loved dancing and traveling, especially to Memphis, Tennessee near where she grew up. She was well known for her infectious sense of humor. She was also known for her famous sweet potato pies for all of the holidays and she had to fulfill orders from nearly everyone who knew her. Most importantly to Dorothy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
Beloved wife of the late Virgil united in marriage with 50 years of love. Loving mother of Jerome Braswell and Denise (Anthony) Bolton. Cherished and devoted grandmother of Domonique Bratchett, Brittney Gray, and Carly Bolton. Precious great-grandmother of DaMir Bratchett and Malakhi Thomas-Becton. Dear sister of the late Edward (Mary Frances) Hennings, Milton (the late Lois) Hennings, the late Thomas (the late Shirley) Hennings, the late Albert (Susan) Taylor, Mary Taylor, William Taylor, Ocie (Lois) Taylor, Terry Taylor, Jerry Taylor, and the late Annie Virginia (the late Walter) Higgins.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, WI 53223.
