Dorothy Jarvey (Heideman), 94 years of age, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Southpointe Healthcare Center in Milwaukee, formerly from Shawano, Wisconsin.
Dorothy was born May 5, 1926 in Ironwood, Michigan to the late Ralph and Dorothy Heideman(Graves). She was the middle of three children, preceded in death by her two siblings, Ralph and Florence. Dorothy was educated in the Ontonagon School System in Michigan.
Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Joseph Jarvey in July of 1948. Joe was the love of her life and they were married for 52 years. This union was blessed with four daughters. They lived most of their lives in Shawano but after retiring they moved to Kaukauna. Joseph preceded her in death on April 7, 2001.
Dorothy professed her life to helping others early in her life. One such way was being a nurse which she took great pride in during her life. She attended Michigan Tech, in the first-year women were admitted as students, and then transferred to the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota which she graduated from in 1948. Dorothy worked the majority of her nursing career at Shawano Community Hospital as a head nurse for 32 years. She practiced nursing in Green Bay, Shawano, Antigo, Kaukauna and Phoenix, Arizona for more than 50 years. She was very proud of her nursing career throughout her entire life.
Dorothy loved to read romance and thriller novels, completing jigsaw puzzles, playing handheld poker games, spending time with family and enjoyed snowbirding to Arizona every winter with Joe. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend. She was a very independent, and hard working woman for her time. She raised her four daughters all while Joe was traveling for work, and she worked as a nurse.
Dorothy’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Christine (David) Prey, Kathy (Jeff) Solper, JoAnne (Paul) Schuettpelz, and Mary (Geno) Beck. Proud grandmother of Nicholas (Deanna) Prey, Michael (Erin) Prey, Lindsay and Dylan Solper, Rebecca Schuettpelz, and Jacqueline (David) Schreiber. Cherished great grandmother of Justin, Marissa, Ty, Maddin, Saylor, McKenna, Kaylee, Kennedy, and Madalynn. Beloved great-great grandmother of Asher. Dorothy is survived by other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the Badger Hospice team, including Becky Halverson NP, Erin Kunz RN, and various CNAs who provided exceptional care to Dorothy in her final days and previously, Hickory Parks Elderly Community staff.
