Douglas “Doug” Allyn Edwards

Doug was called to his heavenly home on April 24, 2020.  He is survived by his wife Margaret of 37 years.  His 9 children Christopher (Courtney), Michael (Katy), Ryan, Jessica, Brian (Amber), Joseph (Alexis), Matthew (Dawn), Joshua, and Casey.  His 14 grandchildren Kaydence, Olivia, Jaxson, Grace, Alexis, Anthony, Jacob, Makayla, Emilia, Annabelle, Caleb, Steven, Emma, and Sara.   His one great-grandchild Araelis.  His sister Tracy and 2 brothers Donnie and Dennis.  His 2 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law’s and many nieces and nephews and countless friends that became family. Doug was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Donnie, also his mother and father-in-law Mamerta and Harold Pollnow.

Doug was born on April 3, 1961, in Little Rock, AK.   His family then moved to Grissom Air Force Base where Doug and his siblings spent 13 years of their lives together.  During his high school years, Doug occupied his time with baseball and football. He graduated from Maconquah High School in 1980. After completing high school Doug enlisted in the United States Army where he served several years.  After his service ended, Doug then moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1981 where he met the love of his life and mother of his children, Margaret.  Doug and Margaret were happily married on November 13, 1982.

Doug worked as a CNA at Community Memorial for 8 years.  Then Doug continued working at different transportation jobs for about 5 years.  Then to end his work life he ended at FedEx where he was there for 12 years.  In his retirement years, he enjoyed continuing to work by volunteering at many places.  He strengthened his faith by volunteering as a neighborhood minister for Wellington Park Lutheran Church.

Doug will be remembered for being an avid sports fan. You could often find him coaching one of his children’s sports teams or watching their games.   He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed going up north to go hunting with his sons and enjoyed the many hours spent creating memories around campfires.  He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Admirals, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks, Racine Raiders, and Wisconsin Badgers. Doug will also be remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to help anyone he could.  He was a caring and helpful neighbor.  He enjoyed helping his children with different projects around their homes. His favorite activity was working on his many gardens.

Doug will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and children, and all whose lives he touched.

A private celebration of his life will be held for immediate family on Monday.  A memorial service will take place at a later date to be decided.
