Loving father of Stephen, Joanna and James Topetzes, and devoted and adoring grandfather of Alexa, Julia, Gregory, Andreas and John Topetzes. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, former colleagues and friends. Born to Greek immigrants, John and Sophia Topetzes, on August 14, 1928, he is the youngest of eleven children, and is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. A man of extraordinary integrity and compassion, Dr. Topetzes received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Marquette University and his medical degree from Marquette University School of Medicine. He served the community as a doctor of Internal Medicine for more than 40 years. He also was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin for over 30 years, and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1991-1995. After retiring from private practice, he worked at the Wisconsin Health Fund, and, for many years, contributed his time and talents to the Greater Milwaukee Free Clinic. Professionally, he acted as a patient advocate. In all areas of life, he was generous, caring, intelligent, gentle and principled. Visitation at Funeral Home, on Tuesday, May 29, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Trisagion 6:30 PM. Visitation at ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 9400 West Congress, Wednesday, May 30, from 9:30-10:00 AM. Funeral service at 10:00 AM, the Reverend James Dokos officiating.
