(nee Vielgut) passed peacefully to eternal life on March 27, 2020 at age 92. She was born on May 17, 1927 to the late Anton and Ludmilla Vielgut. Eleanore was married to the late Joseph Mishak on April 12, 1947. She is survived by her devoted and beloved daughters Cheryl (Philip) Vanderwel, Barbara Kexel, Lois (James) Blom, Lynn (Chico) Rodriguez and Cynthia (Timothy) McMahon. She was a proud grandma who cherished her 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Beloved sister-in-law of Harold Ballmann and Judy Vielgut, Eleanore will also be missed by dear friend Marilyn and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by sisters Beverly Wyler, Mardell Meacham, Noritta Ballmann, brother Anthony Vielgut, brothers-in-law Donald Wyler, Ray Meacham and great-grandson JT.
She was a member of Blessed Savior Catholic Church and a proud charter member of the former Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Having a strong work ethic, she retired from American General Finance at 65 years and retired again 14 years later as an MPS food service employee. For over 30 years she worked tirelessly as a proud and dedicated Committee Member and chaperone for the Continental Youth Band.
As an accomplished seamstress and crafter she sewed/crafted everything, including her daughters clothes as children and wedding dresses as they got older. In between it was doll clothes, band uniforms, baton twirling outfits, bridesmaid dresses, communion host burses for the church, hanging kitchen towels, tissue box covers, children’s stuffed animal toys and her cherished hand-sewn baby quilts.
Special thanks to staff at Alexian Village of Milwaukee and Horizon Home Care and Hospice.
Private family services will take place with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. A Memorial Mass and celebration of Eleanore’s life will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or Alexian Village of Milwaukee.
