Ellen was born in Lake Mills, Wisconsin on July 11, 1920 to parents Raymond and Myra. She married Blake Wheeler on February 7, 1942. They lived in Washington D.C. during World War II before relocating to Wauwatosa, where they were long time members of Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church. Ellen enjoyed living at the Village at Manor Park for her last 20 years, where she was active in PEO and enjoyed her social life there.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
