Emil Douglas Skorik, 86, of Delafield, Wisconsin went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2022. He passed away peacefully at home with family by his side.
He was born on August 10, 1935 to Emil and Florence (nee Fitzgerald) Skorik in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Emil was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Betty Skorik; brothers, Ronnie, Russell, and Kenny; granddaughter Sadie Zachman; and stepson Peter Kafura Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Sheryl Kafura-Skorik; son, Jeff (Mary) Skorik; daughters Heidi (Robert) Garvin, and Jill (Paul) Zachman; grandchildren Bethany Skorik (Cavan Cox), Phoebe (Chad) Anderla, Tyler Zachman; and Molly, Peter and Emily Garvin; great-grandchildren, Pierce and Camden. He is further survived by his brother Greg (Merry) Skorik; sister, Kathy (Ron) Lewandowski; sister-in-laws, Carol, Pauline and Judy Skorik; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he all adored.
Emil spent his career in the landscaping industry. He owned his own business, Green Leaf Landscaping Company for many years. After retirement, he continued to provide help and assistance to his friends and family on a variety of landscaping projects. He took great pride in his work. He had a natural talent, eye for detail, and was committed to excellence.
Emil was happiest on the golf course. As an avid golfer, Emil sunk an astounding 10 hole-in-ones on Wisconsin courses in his lifetime – nine sanctioned and one witnessed by his daughter. He also shared his love of golf with his grandkids. He played with numerous golf teams over the years. He especially loved his annual outing with his buddies Mark, Jerry and Dick, that spanned over 30 years at Old Hickory Golf Course.
Emil had a special knack for music and loved playing harmonica for his friends, family and church.
While he loved golfing, playing music and gardening, what he valued the most was being a Husband, Father and Grandpa. He loved being with his grandkids and cheering them on from the stands and sidelines. He was always on hand to offer his words of support and encouragement. He was a fixture in the stands and made fast friends with all of the parents.
His life was guided by his faith. He was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Mauston, and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Delafield.
Emil was a kind man who loved deeply, worked hard and gave the gift of joy and laughter to all around him. His optimism, knack for telling stories and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Thank you to Aurora Hospice workers: Lori, Sam, Chaplain Matt, Kaja, and Meghan for your wonderful care.
A special thank you to Pastor Jackie Cook, Mark Gould, and the Boys Bible Breakfast (B3) Group for sharing their love and faith with Emil.
