Went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2011. She was born on March 17, 1928 in Caspian, Michigan to Eero and Anna Kesti. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, George Norman Peterson, her young son Gary, and her brother Wayne Kesti. She will be sadly missed by her children, Bruce (Nancy) Peterson and Dale (Linda) Peterson of Milwaukee, WI; Paul (Leigh Anne) Peterson of Santa Maria, CA; Mary (Steven) Isbell of Peoria, AZ; and Ann (Brian) Montgomery of Modesto, CA. She was a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 10 great – grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, June (Ken) Gartlir of Dallas, TX.Ethel was an active member of the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain, MI, Milwaukee Evangelical Covenant Church and Goleta Community Covenant Church in CA. She taught Sunday school for many years, served as a deaconess and hosted weekly Child Evangelism classes in her home. Serving the Lord and caring for her family were Ethel's callings. She enjoyed hosting family and friends in her home and was always welcoming to all who visited. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of music, and her love of baking. No one ever left her home hungry.Visitation will be held Friday, March 11, from 4:00 PM to 6:45 PM, at Krause Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 PM. Internment will be at Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, MI on Saturday, March 12.
