On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, reunited with his wife, Eugene Dobbe, age 91, left this beautiful earth nearly three months after the love of his life, Shirley, passed. The family will carry forward the legacy of their love and graciousness.
Cherished Father of Jodie (Gigh) Brucker, Keith (Merry) Dobbe, Janelle Cox, Brian (Laurie) Dobbe, Greg (Chris) and Christine Feerick. Proud and loving grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of 19. Dear brother of Herb, John, sister Kay, and his late brother Jerry. Special friend of Trudy and Renee. Also loved and will be missed by additional family and friends. Preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Sarah Brucker.
Gene was a formidable but gentle man—a WWII Navy veteran and longtime employee of Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee, but also devoted family man, a dedicated brother and the person you wanted to share a cup of coffee and a stack of buttermilk pancakes with. Like his father before him, he loved nature; fishing, hunting and forestry conservation. Alongside our father we planted 1,000+ trees that now reach to the heavens. He spent much of his pastime “putzing” around the house, the garage, and the garden of which tomatoes were his specialty. He had a quick-witted sense of humor that always made us laugh. He loved sitting around the kitchen table, in the presence of loved ones, eating Shirley’s home cooking and reflecting on all he was grateful for, which was often delivered through a prayer, a hug, a warm smile and twinkling eyes. Many times he would be seen sitting outside enjoying the soft breeze and the sun on his face.
We are so grateful for you and all that you have given to enrich and bless our lives. You have departed us, but the winds of the north woods will carry your spirit in our hearts forever.
Gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Friday, November 23, 2018, 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Memorial Service at 5:00 PM.
Eugene cherished nature and taught his family the simple things in life. He was a humble man who sacrificially gave to his family. His loving ways will be missed dearly. He proudly serviced in the US Navy during World War II.
