Found his peace, Saturday, July 15, 2017, at age 57. Loving and caring brother of Queenatta, Ruby, Erma, Lieutenant Jr., Johnnie, Alvin (Esther), Calvin and Dawonn Averhart.  Adoring and devoted uncle and great uncle of LaCreesha, LaTosha, Olivia, Destiny, Zhanè, Quentin, Dawonn Jr., Quantrell, Alexis, Lailah, Jamicia, Arianna, Priscilla, Chloe, Devonna, Samantha, Jada, Kennedy and Jaxsen.  Nephew of Emma Jean Walker, Annie (Nathaniel) Washington, Michael (Yvette) Crenshaw of Texas, and Theo Freeman. Great-aunts; Ella Lou Holloway, Annie Black and Elizabeth Lawson. Big Poppa will be missed by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends especially his special brothers Harold, Bobby, Leon, Eric and sister Elizabeth Coggs.  He will also be cherished by Jessie Weathersby, who was like a father-figure to him.

Preceded in death by his parents Lieutenant and Ruthie Averhart; grandparents, Bud and Isabelle Purifoy; dear aunts and uncles and great-great niece Jermany Averhart-Weddle.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM, at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 PM.

“Big Poppa” was the life of any party or family function, especially at all the family Barbeque’s. He LOVED to grill with his mesquite wood from Jessie and special BBQ Sauce from his sister Queenie.  People would love to have the recipe to his famous dry rub for his chicken.

You were a friend to many and will be dearly missed.  We will forever remember the good times.

Big Poppa is Gone but not Forgotten!
