Age 92, found peace Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Earl H. Loving mother of Janyce (Jack) Cruse; proud grandmother of James (Jennifer) Cruse; great-grandmother of Josh, Jake, and Jenna. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.Florence was a former resident of Milwaukee, WI, where she retired from Briggs and Stratton after 30 years in 1976. She and her husband, Earl, then retired to Oshkosh on Lake Winnebago where she discovered her love for fishing and doing crafts. At church she was known as the mashed potato queen when she volunteered in Oshkosh. Florence and Earl loved to travel; especially to Arizona and Tampa Bay. Janyce remembers the day she was at work in Milwaukee when she received the call from her parents telling her they had decided to buy a house in Florida. There she became active in the craft club, bingo games, looking for good buys at flea markets, and was one of the original people to start the IITS Nondenominational Church. She now took up the title of the grilled cheese queen as she helped at bingo kitchen. Janyce and Jack moved down to Largo to be with them and often were found playing cards or visiting with their many friends in the community. Florence's 90th birthday party quickly grew from about 7 attendees to 109! She will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched and will live on in their hearts forever. A memorial service celebrating her life will be scheduled on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 9 am during the church service, which is televised to the community after the holidays at the Paradise Island Club House. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Suncoast Hospice Foundation or IITS Nondenominational Church.
