Fredrick “Fritz” J. Lyons shocked us all when he passed away on Saturday, October 22nd at approximately 6:30pm. Known to many as “The Man with Nine Lives,” Fritz was a one-of-a-kind person. His tough, stubborn exterior could be a bit intimidating to some, but those who really knew Fritz knew that inside, he had a heart of gold. A talented musician, gifted storyteller, and born comedian, Fritz will be missed a great deal by his many beloved friends and family.
Fritz was born in Zeeland, Michigan on June 16, 1966 and was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition to becoming a soulful guitarist and vocalist, Fritz grew to love bowling, fishing, and playing pool – all activities that he enthusiastically shared with his children and greatest legacy, Zachary and Carolyn. One of the most wonderful and recognizable gifts Fritz shared with his family and all those around him was his sense of humor.
From performing both solo and with his bands to telling jokes to everyone he met, Fritz was a true entertainer. Those who knew Fritz knew that time spent in his company was time spent laughing to the point of tears. In grieving Fritz’s loss, may our tears, in time, give way to laughter at the thought of the many amazing, hilarious, and sometimes ridiculously silly memories of our time with him.
Fritz’s family is finding comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his loving parents and sisters, Betty, John, Gail, and Donna Rae, as he missed them dearly. He is survived by his birth father, Fredrick Schippa, his children, Zachary (Julia) and Carolyn Lyons, his sisters, Laura Schippa, Lisa (Greg) Colker, and Patti Ann, and his brother Bryan Schippa, along with many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12th, at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, from 1:00 PM – 3:45 PM, followed by a service at 4:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow the service on Saturday, November 12th, at The Tracks Tavern & Grill, 1020 East Locust Street, Milwaukee, from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM.
As Fritz used to say, “we aren’t going to a [use your imagination here] fashion show.” Casual attire welcome, fancy attire if you must.
