Traumatized student left a message on August 3, 2023:
Gary Gussick was an eclectic teacher who took every available opportunity to embarrass and bully students at Dean School in Brown Deer who he deemed unworthy. He would often get the other students to laugh at the child he was intimidating. It would have been fair to cause him the pain and grief that he caused me and others.
Richard Whitaker left a message on October 20, 2018:
Gary came to UMCWFB for the first time when we were having "Inclusion Sunday" a few years ago. When he heard the Green Circle story read at Children's time he knew he had found a new church home. He took over the reigns of the LGBTQ Advocacy group upon Dr. Mary Lou Taylor's move to another city. In the years since then he has provided strong leadership for LGBTQ folks and has helped to rally straight allies. He became one of our quarterly WFB birthday lunch bunch participants at Royal Gardens Restaurant as former staff and volunteers came together for food, fellowship and fun. Not only did Gary host outdoor LGBTQ cookouts at his home and offered gracious hospitalit but he also welcomed everyone with a smile on Friday afternoons as he sat at the front desk at UMCWFB serving as a volunteer greeter and receptionist. We are among the many who will miss him and wish we could celebrate his life on Monday but alas we are now in NC preparing for a permanent move and searching for a new home. Rest in peace, dear brother in Christ. Richard and Martha Whitaker

Gary was dedicated to education. His work with students, the Teacher's Union, and organized retirees luncheons will be remembered. May warm memories comfort his loved ones at this time.
Jan Williams left a message on October 17, 2018:
Gary gave so much to his students in Brown Deer, and he will be long appreciated by the retired staff members for his service in the teachers association and later the many luncheons he arranged so that we could stay in touch. May he rest in peace, and may God comfort his loved ones.
