Geanine was born on June 28, 1947 to her late parents Vernon and Virginia (Nee Stepke) Barg. Loving Wife who was the best part of the whole to Bob, for 49 years. Most loving Mother of Chad and Curtis (Molly). Most loving and wonderful Grammy to Breleigh and Alea. Sister of Marsha (Alan) Karp and Cheryl (Bill) Poling. Further survived by brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Geanine molded many lives in her career as an elementary teacher in the Franklin and Elmbrook School Districts. How she loved to see the young one’s progress fully in life. A big hobby was antiquing and working spaces in antique malls. Geanine is loved by all.

I worked as a School Social Worker in Franklin Public Schools with Geanine many years ago. One of her parents were on the School Board. She was a most wonderful teacher - thoughtful, nurturing, and a great lesson planner. I knew that if students had her for a teacher, they were lucky indeed. We also had a chance to talk about her personal challenges with her cancer, pregnancy, etc. She was a special person. It was a loss for our district when she left, but I was happy to read that she continued to share her many talents with students in the Elmbrook. School District. As a family, you can be very proud of your Wife, and Mother. She positively influenced countless young people over her life. Jane Miller

I had her for 3rd grade at Ben Franklin. She got married that year. Started the year as Miss Barg. I remember how hard it was for us 3rd graders to start calling her Mrs. Maurer. Also, I remember a group of friends rode our bikes to BF when we were in probably 6th grade to visit her after school one time. She was sooo excited to see us and see how we'd grown up! We may have been the first class that she taught. I don't know that for sure, but she was a very young teacher at the time. RIP Mrs. Maurer! Prayers to you and your family.
