Genevieve “Jeanie” Burant

Genevieve “Jeanie” Burant (nee Trzebiatowski), age 99 of Milwaukee, entered into Eternal Life on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Jeanie was born November 26, 1922 in Amherst Junction and lived on a farm with her parents and 12 siblings. She moved to Milwaukee when she was 18 but frequently moved back home to care for her ailing mother. She worked as a nanny and at several factories – Cutler & Hammer, Super Charger, Schlitz and a hair net factory.

Jeanie married her husband, Edwin Burant, on October 17, 1953. They had 4 children – Edwin, Rose, Chuck and Sandy. They were married for 30 years, which was cut short by the passing of her husband in 1983.

Jeanie was a jack-of-all-trades – she could fix almost anything and did most of the repairs around the house. She was also a fantastic seamstress – doing many alterations including prom and wedding dresses, creating clothing from scratch and mending anything and everything that was brought to her. Jeanie loved to travel. She traveled with her husband locally (Amherst Junction, Polonia, Oshkosh, Neenah and Berlin) and to St. Cloud, MN to visit family and friends. After Edwin’s death, she traveled the country with her sister and others – vacationing in California, Nashville, New Orleans and Hawaii, to name a few.

Jeanie loved the Milwaukee Brewers and became a season seat holder in 2007 with her daughter, Sandy. Together, they attended over 30 games a year for 13 years. (Sadly to say, in 2018 and 2019, she was only able to attend 6 games due to health issues but her children got her cable so she was able to watch every game on TV in the comfort of her own home, where she lived by herself.) Jeanie and Sandy were occasionally joined by family and friends for tailgating and the games. Jeanie wore a license plate sign – #1 Brewers Fan – and complete strangers would ask to take their picture with her. On May 3, 2016, Jeanie made her major league debut by being the season seat holder to throw out the first pitch at the Brewers game. She made the news and the video went viral on the internet. She still talked about that often.
Jeanie was a devout Catholic. She went to church every Sunday, every holyday and whenever. The last couple of years she received communion at home. She was a member of the Golden Agers. She prayed the rosary daily. God was a great source of strength and comfort to her.

Jeanie leaves behind her loving children – Edwin (Kim) Burant, Rose (Dave) Fritz, Chuck (Kathy) Burant and Sandy Burant; her adoring grandchildren – Michele, Kaitlin (Michael), Daniel (Taylor), Jared, Rachel, Zachery, Jason (fiancée Hannah) and Sarah; her precious great-grandchildren – Lily, Aubree, Judah, Rose and Tallulah and her dear sister-in-law – Helen Trzebiatowski. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Burant, parents, 7 brothers and 5 sisters. She also leaves behind several dear relatives and good friends.

Jeanie lived a long and wonderful life. She was a kind, loving, energetic, selfless woman who loved life, family, friends and God. She touched everyone’s heart who knew her. She was loved and cherished and will truly be missed. Her 5-year-old great-grandchild, Aubree, summed it up perfectly. Her last words to great-grandma were “I love you great-grandma! You are the best great-grandma in the whole world!”

Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 3970 North 92nd Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53222, on Friday, December 17, 2021, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Jeanie was an avid Brewers fan. Please wear Brewers’ attire to her celebration.
