George Edward Batayias, M.D., FACOEM, FACP entered God’s loving arms on November 29, 2017. George Edward Batayias, M.D., FACOEM, FACP entered God’s loving arms on November 29, 2017. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, November 16, 1935 to his wonderful parents Edward G. and Maria (Kartalia) Batayias.
Dr. Batayias is survived by his loving wife, Jacque, of 38 years. Sons, Edward (Tami) Batayias, George Batayias, Jr., Nicholas Batayias and Robert (Michelle) Wood, six Grandchildren, one Great-Great Grandchild, Sisters, Helen (Michael) Young, Jannie (Chris) Koumparakis, Faye (Costas) Panos, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Dr. Batayias graduated from The Johns Hopkins University and The Medical School of Georgia. He served in the Armed Forces as a Captain in the Medical Field during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Rucker, Alabama.
He was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, AHEPA, The Academy of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins Alumni Association, Emeritus Member of The College of American Pathologists, The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine Alumni Association, and many other Medical and Charitable Organizations.
He enjoyed a variety of hobbies and among his favorites were model railroading, photography, and woodworking.
A special thank you to Dr. James Lincer, Dr. Abraham Varghese, Dr. Paul Barkhaus, Dr. William Waring, Dr. Andrew Nelson, Dr. Shekar Kurpad, Dr. Christopher Evanich, and the nurses and staff at Elmbrook and Froedtert Hospitals & The Medical College of Wisconsin.
Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, December 4, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Trisagion 7 PM. Additional visitation to be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 9440 West Congress Street, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 5, burial services to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
