Member of the First Baptist Church of West Allis, Wisconsin for 72 years, joining in April of 1950. A life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, West Allis Chapter 172 since 2006. A telephone switchboard operator at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX during WWII, where she met her sailor husband, she brought that skill set to Wisconsin post war, working until retirement at then Mount Sinai Hospital (now Aurora Sinai) in Milwaukee.
She raised a family first in West Allis and then in New Berlin, Wisconsin before her final stop in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Gloria’s life was an example to service and giving; a reflection of her Lord Jesus Christ. From rocking babies at local hospitals as a volunteer nurse’s aide to supporting her church in every possible mission field she could manage, rooting for grandchildren as the “super fan” at countless weather impacted sporting events, helping friends and neighbors, Gloria exemplified the life, a shining light, morally focused on the Word of God.
