Today, April 15th, at the end of my snowy driveway I was met by my neighbor Greg's brother Dann. He said "Did you know Greg"... I held onto my heart to absorb his words, he couldn't possibly be speaking of Greg in a past tense? Dann so kindly and gently says, "you may want to turn off your snowblower"... Then the silence was broken with the news that my dearest neighbor Greg passed away on March 19th. Dann had rang my doorbell several times in the past month to tell me and I was never home to get the news. Today, the news sent chills up my spine, I felt I was in shock. It's been a long winter... Greg and I have been next door neighbors for a long time and we see each other in the yard and connect spring to fall, so to have not seen him in the past month wasn't too unusual. I was looking forward to connecting with him again soon when he would make sure I changed the oil in the mower, and ran out all the gas from the snowblower for the season. ... Greg is to me, my guardian angel of all things "home". The best neighbor and such a kind gentleman. He is my go to guy with all things I can't figure out on my own. He is humble, kind and so extremely talented, able to fix anything he puts his mind to and he has the most generous heart to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. As I write this I realize I am not able to speak of him in a past tense yet. It's all too new to me. This stormy news is difficult to accept. I pray that Greg is at peace. I will miss him so much and will think of him each day as I step outside and look at the birds visiting the many feeders he has in his backyard. Today.. just before I was delivered the news I noticed a beautiful bird out of the norm, looked like maybe a purple martin flying low in front of me and my snowblower and then into Greg's yard. Maybe a sign from above. My condolences to all who were blessed enough to have had him in your life.

We miss you Greg, I know you will be in Heaven with mom and dad. I wish we had more time together, even though you kept our discussions to a minimum. This sudden lost has hit me harder than when our parent passed away! I didn't know I would feel this heavy weight with your passing. I will pray for all that loved you and who will miss you. Few knew about the struggles you faced from open heart surgery at the age of 12 or the the more recent heart valve replacement. You were the strong silent brother that rarely shared your problems. You were so caring, few knew how many people, both children and adults, you helped through your life. You made impressions in the children you helped that are now better adults for it. You continue to help many others with your passing through your gift to the Wisconsin Blood Center and Tissue Bank. I hope that in Heaven, you are riding a Harley with chrome wings and mom on the back seat of the bike! Love Dann
