Gregory “Greg” B. Hays

Greg Hays passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on July 29, 2023 surrounded by his family who never left his side.  Beloved husband and best friend for 50 years of Mary Ellen (nee Miska), devoted father of Jennifer (Eric) Murray and Brad (Sara) Hays; and proud “Papa” of Jack and Tess Murray. Preceded in death by his parents Byron and Donna Hays. He is survived by his loving sisters Sharon (Tom) Christie and Sandy (the late Bill) Bowers, his nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Greg, a 1966 Wauwatosa West graduate, attended Carroll College on a basketball scholarship where he made many lifelong friends.  Following in his father’s footsteps, he graduated from Marquette Law School in 1973.  He had a successful law practice for nearly 50 years. His clients considered him a very trusted and honest attorney.

Greg’s free time was spent enjoying life with his family and friends. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he attended every sporting or theatrical event of theirs. He was an avid sports fan and loved all Wisconsin sports.

Celebration of Life will be on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive Brookfield, Wisconsin. Additional visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12130 West Center Street, Wauwatosa on Tuesday, August 8, 2023  from 10:0 AM – 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.

Please dress casually, wearing sports apparel if desired.
