Peacefully departed this life on October 2, 2017 at age 88. Beloved husband of the late Geraldine (nee Olson). Loving father of Steven (Anne), Tricia (Mark) Schumacher, Mark (Pat) and Karyn. Dear grandfather of Regan, Sam, Erica, Zachary, and Jayden. Brother of Dennis. Further survived and will be missed by additional family and friends.

Hal was born in Tappen, North Dakota and was 1 of 4 boys. He served in the US Navy from 1948-1952. He married Geraldine on July 18, 1958 and graduated from North Dakota University with a BS in Civil Engineering. Hal worked as a civil engineer for 34 years for the Wisconsin State Highway Department. He was a long time member of Benediction Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He was also a boy scout leader who enjoyed woodworking, weaving and origami.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM. Funeral Service at 3:00 PM.

I was blessed, as Harold's weaving teacher at Wilson Park Senior Center, to have gotten to know this kind, gentle man. He was loved and respected by his classmates. His weaving was unique - Packer field placemats! We all miss him and know he is now pain free and at peace.

Well Big Brother, it looks like I'm going too be the last of Jake and Mary's boys now. I'll ask one last favor of you for when Peter opens the gate after you ring the bell (make sure you ring it good and loud too)... see if he can keep at least one more seat open at the table... I'd really like to see you all again when my turn comes. May God bless and keep you all till we meet again... hopefully the big guy will see fit to make that possible. Oh, and give Mom and Dad a big hug for me, love and miss you all!!
