Heidi Jo (Neuheisel) Gumz, was welcomed into the arms of her savior Jesus on September 8, 2021 at age 47 in Milwaukee, WI with family around her.
She fought fiercely against cancer for 5-½ years with her continual question concerning treatment: “Ok, what’s the next step?”
Heidi was born July 1, 1974 in Eau Claire, WI. She graduated from Milwaukee’s Vincent High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from UW-Eau Claire.
Her career was in the banking industry in Wisconsin institutions and several years in Camden, Maine, returning to the Milwaukee area and becoming the Training Director at Equitable Bank.
Jason & Heidi met over a shared passion for ballroom dancing. They married in an open air celebration at Homestead Hollow Park in Germantown, WI, with a highlight being a giant inflatable duck welcoming guests of all ages. Ducks would remain a running theme throughout her lifetime as a nod to fun and enjoying life.
Heidi remained an active member of her community in giving, organizing events, PTA at Garland Elementary School, dinner club, Young Professionals Club and a book club involving many friends. She was never one to sit still for long.
She is survived by her husband Jason, children Sebastion & Sabrina; brother Joshua (Cinthea) Neuheisel of Baltimore; sister Rachael (Oscar) Avila; sister Alecia (Jim) Anderson and parents Phil & Melinda Neuheisel, all of metro Milwaukee. Further survived by many nephews & nieces, as well as oodles of friends.
The family extends their thankfulness to the staff of Froedtert Hospital & Clinics in her battle against cancer. She loved her team of doctors, nurses and everyone in between that came alongside her in her fight, with unfailing hope and faith. She was thankful for you all.
A celebration of Heidi’s life is found on the Facebook page “Remembering Heidi Gumz,” with photos and remembrances by friends and family. There will be an outdoor gathering in Menomonee Falls, WI on September 25th to honor and remember her vibrant life. A gathering place & time will be posted on the Facebook page.
