Herbert A. Schmiedel
Born to Life August 13, 1931  –  Died August 29, 2023

Herb is survived by his wife, Sharon, son Mark (Susan) Schmiedel, Julie (John) Lucey, and Dean (Susan Bay) Schmiedel. Grandchildren Christel (Luke) Ingles, Michelle (Ken) Rojas, Morgan Lucey (Josh Modrzynski), Jasper and Milo Schmiedel. He further survived by five great grandchildren, Maxwell, Elizabeth, James, Amelia and Owen, his sister Kathleen Lehnhardt, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Herb graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1949. Received his undergraduate and Law degree from Valparaiso University. He was hired in the Law Division at Northwestern Mutual and then the Agency Department where he discovered his passion for selling and helping people protect their loved ones. He went on to have a very successful sales career and retired after fifty years at age 80.

In addition to his family, friends and career, he loved traveling and golf. Herb and Sharon traveled to 52 countries and loved golfing at Quit Qui Oc golf course in Elkhart Lake.

Herb was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A special thank you to his caregiver, Jervis Lyoba.

Gathering will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Friday, September 8, 2023, 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Celebration of Life at 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Herb’s memory to The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin or Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
