Irene L. Schelman

(Nee Lohr) Passed into Eternal Life on Monday, July 16, 2018, in Muskego, Wisconsin, at the age of 76. Beloved wife of Bud for 52 years. Loving mother of William (Brenda) Schelman of Indianapolis, Indiana and Charles (Stacy) Schelman of West Allis, Wisconsin. Dear grandmother of Kiersten, Ryan, Alexandria, Madelyn, and Elise. Loving sister of Jean (Richard) Facette and Phyllis (William) Mischo. Also left to cherish Irene’s memory are nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Hazel Lohr.

Irene was born in Hartford, Wisconsin on February 18, 1942, where she was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Luther College and was an elementary school teacher in Beloit and West Allis for many years. Irene loved to quilt, read, travel, and play cards, and she volunteered for many service organizations, including the New Berlin Lioness, Muskego Lions, Kathy’s House, Safe Babies and Healthy Families. She was also active in church and helped start the Days for Girls Project.

Family and friends may gather at  Atonement Lutheran Church, S70W16244 Martin Drive, Muskego, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, from 9:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. The inurnment committal will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Atonement Lutheran Church (for the Days for Girls Project) or Kathy’s House Inc., 600 North 103rd Street,  Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, 53226.
