James “Jim” Schwantes

Passed away after a long courageous fight with kidney disease on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, age 70. Beloved husband of Lilli (nee Kwetkowski) for 36 years. Brother of Pete (Rosie), Mike (Margie), Annie (Harry) Mathews. Further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Mary Jane (nee Cain) and brothers Major John (Marcia) and Mark.

Jim was an avid adventurer from sky diving to scuba diving, golf, motorcycles, skiing, speed skating and sailing. He was a genius with a vocabulary of his own and improvised a song for everything. Jim made people laugh with his special kind of humor and was known for playing bongos and the drums.

Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Funeral Service at 6:15 PM. Burial on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 West Greenfield Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin at 11:00 AM. Memorials are appreciated to the National Kidney Foundation or Sons of American Legion Squadron Post 449, Brookfield.
