Jeffery Allen Hughes was born on September 1, 1961 in Milwaukee, WI to Louise Lovett and Jimmy Bishop. He completed his elementary and high school education in the Milwaukee Public School System. His secondary education consisted of some college at M.S.O.E. prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army.
Jeffery was a proud Army veteran and served from October 22, 1981 through October 18, 1989. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of U.S. Army Sargent and Recruiter. He received numerous achievement awards while serving: The Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Professional Development Ribbon (2), Basic Recruiting Badge and Marksman Badges (2).
After discharge from the Military his dedication and life of service encouraged and influenced many to join a Military branch and this also included some family. Service being an act of doing something for someone or something. Jeffery held numerous jobs of service helping others. He worked with Salvation Army and he was employed by Goodwill Industries, where he trained adults to use the computer to find employment. He also worked at Russ Darrow and was currently employed with Home Depot. The few positions called out all are elements of his dedication to service.
Jeffery will be missed, for he always had a smile and pleasant personality to all that knew him. He enjoyed being with family, especially his sister Gwen, whom he visited weekly. He enjoyed listening to old school music and jazz, buying clothes and decorating his home. He always appreciated nice things. His care and display of those traits always garnered compliments on the way he dressed and how he always nicely decorated his home. The meticulous presentation of self and home is a great factor in the power of influence for a man of service.
Jeffery peacefully departed his life at home and stepped into eternity on Saturday, November 6, 2021. We do not know the day nor the hour when time will end, but God will wipe away every tear and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, crying or pain, for the former things have passed away. He was preceded in death by his mother Louise Lovett and his father Jimmy Bishop and two brothers, Derek Hughes and Michle Hughes.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Phyllis Smith, Gwendial Hughes, four brothers, Anthony Johnson, Steven (Elizabeth) Hughes, Odis Lovett, III and Chauncey (Adrianne) Lovett, one aunt, Shirly O’Kelley, nephews, nieces and a host of many family members and friends.
