Dear Dorsey Family: Mrs. Nelson and I pray that the Lord continues to comfort you all during this unsettling time. A poem I like is, "We don't know what tomorrow brings, we only know this minute. But Jesus does say, 'This is the way!' so by faith we walk in it." Mr. Dorsey now leads the way to heaven for all of us, like he led the way to Jesus for so many of us while he was on this earth. It was my distinct privilege and a great, personal blessing to have worked, prayed, learned, and laughed with Jimmie. Jesus keep you all!

My sincere condolences to the Dorsey Family on the recent passing of Jimmie.
I just wanted to say that J.D. was a very kind soul and a joyful person. I had the opportunity to work with him when assigned to cases in his patrol district. You knew everything was under control when Sgt J.D was on the scene supervising his officers.
Our city just lost one of the few greats in MPD history and I hope his legacy and thought process on Law Enforcement will be carried on by all those he mentored.
The one thing I will always remember was the aroma of his cigar as he stepped out of his squad over the years. Also, his laugh or a quick joke to break the tension during incidents on the street. He did a lot for his community over the years and will be missed by all who knew him.
So, I will pray for J.D., his family and friends so that they may comfort one another during this time of sorrow.
J.D. may you R.I.P as you travel on your new journey, hopefully it will be a sunny place that has nice beach and cigars for you to cherish.

My condolences to Evelyn and the Dorsey family. My memories of Jimmie are ones of family, his congregation, and the community. His love of people was strong and clearly evident in his words and what he did. Jimmie’s faith in his Savior Jesus led him to speak and live as a leader sharing his faith in his daily life. I miss him now and can’t wait to see him in heaven.
Always nice to see Jimmy and Evelyn at various functions, He always reminded me of a Gentle Giant of a guy, that one would do well to keep him smiling. Evelyn God keep you and your family in His perfect peace. Bill Yates

I worked with Jimmie at several different locations over the years on the MPD. I want Evie, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know that Jimmie was a friend, great person, liked by all and well respected. He had ability well beyond his rank. Miss our conversations and breakfasts. Love you Jimmie. RIP - 10-4.
Sgt. Dorsey was a true mentor for many people in the Milwaukee community and particularly for the young officers on the Milwaukee Police Department. Sgt. Dorsey was a very kind, knowledgeable, and physically strong man, but more importantly, intellectually he blessed too. Sgt. Dorsey will be missed by all that got to know him. I have never gotten about who you are and what you always stood for as a person and a cop!
Rest-in-Peace and may God bless your soul.
