Was met at Heaven's Gate by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Deloris, and infant son, Patrick, as well as his parents, Stanley and Hedwig. John, a kind, gentle soul and gracious gentleman, finished his work here on earth at the age of 84. He was the proud father of James (Sharon), Ronald (Marcia) and Daniel (Susan) Gorski. John was also the proud grandpa of Robert, Jeffrey (Kim), Grant, Craig (Casey), Emily, Sarah, Katharine and Jacob, and great-grandpa of Kourtney, John and Abigail Gorski. He was a brother to Edward (the late Adell), Estelle (the late Robert) Aspenleiter, the late Richard (Loretta), Jerome (Mary), Sr. Edith, Stanley (Nancy), the late Mary Ann (Thomas) Woiak and David (Barbara) Gorski, and brother-in-law to the late Edward (Jean) Osinski. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. John was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Milwaukee and he graduated from Boy's Tech High School. After high school, he joined the Army Air Corp and was decorated for combat missions he flew in Europe during WWII. While serving his country, John married Deloris. He attended Marquette University and State Teachers College, and began a career in the retail grocery business. He worked at A&P then owned his own grocery store in Bay View, and later worked for many years as a meat department manager and area supervisor at Kohl's Food Stores. During this time, his father-in-law, the late Victor Osinski, introduced him to fraternal work with The Catholic Order of Foresters, where he served as Chief Ranger of St. Vincent de Paul Court 1775 in Milwaukee and then as Wisconsin State Chief Ranger. He later joined the COF National Board in Illinois as High Secretary and then served as High Chief Ranger. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Milwaukee-Pere Marquette Co. 524, and served as Grand Knight. Visitation at the Funeral Home Friday, June 13, 4-8PM. Prayer Vigil 7PM. Visitation also at ST. MARY CATHOLIC FAITH COMMUNITY, 9520 West Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners on Saturday 9-10AM. Mass of Christian Burial 10AM. Private family entombment service at St. Adalbert. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
