John joins his late, Great Aunt Mary Gallagher, who adopted and raised him and his siblings, his late sister Grace Gallagher and his late brother Dorsey “Toby” Gallagher. He leaves behind his brother, Steven Gallagher, and sisters, Rosemary Gallagher and Mary Ellen (Gallagher) Cinnamon. John also leaves behind two daughters, Nicole (Gallagher) Evanson and Collette Gallagher. John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp., 1st Division, 3rd Amphibian Assault Battalion based at Camp Pendleton Military Base, Oceanside, CA. from 1958 to 1964. He joined members of his battalion off the shores of Cuba in October 1962 during the world-altering, Cuban Missile Crisis. In civilian life, John took an avid interest in politics and the political process after his service to the country he loved. He continued to pursue training and community college education and became a highly skilled and experienced, master machinist for the Dial corporation in Joliet, Illinois, where he retired after more than 25 years of service. He would later move to Wisconsin and continued to be involved in the manufacturing industry.
