John Norbert Martin Sr.

August 10, 1937 - December 28, 2021

Passed away December 28, 2021. Age 84. Beloved father of John (Sierra) Martin, Jr. and Matthew (Min Su) Martin. Proud grandpa of Megan, Dillon, Jessica, Xandy, Octavia, Xabrina, and Elisha; and great-grandpa of Clint. Dear brother of Betty (the late Claude) Johnson. Uncle of Timothy (Michele), Randolph (Kim), and the late Lawrence Johnson. Also loved by other family and friends.

John was a US Army veteran and retired from Waukesha Engines after 37 years of service. John kept himself busy throughout his life with farming, bowling, fishing, serving beers at his bar “Martin’s Tap,” telling jokes, dancing, jamming with his friends on his accordion, concertina and drums, spending time with his grandchildren, appearing on “Around the Corner with John McGivern,” gambling, playing music for the New Berlin Historical Society, gardening, and playing cards. John never met a person he didn’t like. He was a friendly, welcoming, happy-go-lucky kind of guy.

Private services will be held. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.

Very sorry to lose another fellow bar owner, and great guy. Had the pleasure of serving him 7&7’s, way back in the 1970’s, at Mellody Bar. He will be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of John's passing. I first met him some years back at a Polka Party I was running in Milton, WI at a friends private residence. John was such a nice man. So years later, I decided to drive up there at his Tap with my Concertina. I heard that John's Tap was a one of a kind place. I was up there 3 or 4 times. I live in a western suburb of Chicago so it's a little cruise for me. I am going to miss John a whole lot. I met so many nice people at John's Tap. Maybe this is the end of an era, but at least I was there to witness John's Tap & to know John. RIP John & now you are making music in Heaven for all those other people & musicians that have gone before you.

Miss you John! Glad I had the chance to know you. I will miss your jokes, your music, your stories and all the happy times at "Martin's". R.I.P.

So sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was a great guy, always had fun jamming with him.

I will miss seeing John's smiling face! You could always count on stopping into his bar and he would serenade you with some kind of instrument. Great guy and I'm happy I got to know him.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I think of John all the time when I'm on my way home from work listening to my polka music. I will miss stopping at Martin's tap for a cold 🍺 Cheers John I will see you on the other side.

To family and friends of John, please accept my sincere sympathy. I remember John and Betty way back in Sunday School days at St. Pauls in Muskego. Later I bought garden produce off the picnic table from John and his mother.
