That is such a beautiful and fitting tribute video for Joe. I wish I could have shared in the celebration of his life and given my farewell along with his many loved ones. Jon and I were best friends in our teens and twenties and so naturally I came to know his dad, Joe. I knew him as a devoted and attentive husband, father, avid sportsman and of course, a master fisherman. He was always quick with a colorful joke and ever-ready to help anyone in need. He and Karenlee also gave generous support to me and my family at the most trying time in my life. He will be missed, except in my fond memories of him. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family and close friends.

Uncle Joe enjoyed the outdoors to the fullest. One year he came to Michigan to visit both of his sisters and visit his nephews and nieces. The one visit I will always remember was when I was 21 and fit..Uncle Joe wanted to go for a canoe ride. So, I liked to canoe, and I liked Uncle Joe so out we went.....into Lake Michigan. Beautiful day, sun shinning and waves were two feet. Out we paddled and paddled, thinking he forgot something at home in Wisconsin, well the waves got a bit higher and being almost two miles out Joe said from the back of the canoe, maybe we should go back. Lucky for us as we were trying to turn around a wave caught the front of the canoe and tosses us in the right direction. It was a quiet ride into the beach and when we hit shore Uncle Joe got out and kissed the sand..He said thanks for not panicking because I was. I said hey Joe we didn't drink the beer we brought along, so we sat in the sand and enjoyed a beer, the waves, the sun and our lives.. Love you Uncle Joe
